Our client was injured when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side at approximately 45 miles-per-hour after the other driver failed to stop at a stop sign. Police and first responders found our client and her car in a ditch on the opposite side of the road. She was immediately rushed to the emergency room where it was determined that she had sustained injuries to her kidney, spleen, pelvis, ribs, and leg, along with multiple lacerations, cuts and extensive bruising.
After prolonged negotiations, Metro Detroit Injury Lawyers were able to avoid litigation, reaching a pre-suit settlement for both the driver and owner’s policy limits. In reaching the settlement, Cameron Peralta, the attorney for the plaintiff, stressed the severity of the injuries as well as the very real possibility that the insurers would be exposing their insured to an excess judgment should the case proceed to trial.
“This settlement not only provides compensation to our client for her devastating injuries, but in reaching an agreement at this stage of the case, she was able to avoid a long and drawn out litigation process and the emotional toll that comes with it.” Mr. Peralta said. “She and her family can now devote their full energy and attention to her treatment, and hopefully begin to put this horrific incident behind them. I have no doubt that [redacted] will continue to attack her recovery with the same strength and fortitude that she displayed throughout the pendency of her case.”
